Inspiration Point Hike
Inspiration Point Hike
Early fall is the perfect time to enjoy this hike, which begins at scenic Inspiration Point and runs along the top of the ridge toward Blue Ridge. Park in the lot at Inspiration Point and go through the gate, which joins the Pacific Crest Trail. Bring along your trekking poles and enjoy the amazing views, which look out onto the High Desert, Mount Baden-Powell and the valleys below. Jeffrey Pines, California Black Oaks and an occasional roaming deer compete for your attention. You'll also pass by the Pacific Crest Reservoir and Mountain High Ski Resort Lifts. On the way, take notice of the unique blue-gray colored rock formations called Pelona Schist, which gives the ridge its name. Be sure to relax awhile on the picnic tables at Blue Ridge Campground before continuing your journey back.
