Jackson Lake

Formed in 1916 by the Mescal Creek Dam, Jackson Lake in Wrightwood is a fine spot for fishing and picnicking. The lake is actually a fault sag, formed by the San Andreas Fault. During the summer, Jackson Lake is stocked with bluegill and other fish. You can pick up bait, tackle and other fishing supplies — and get the latest reports on what is stocked — at Mountain Hardware in Wrightwood village. A fishing license is required.

Warning: Beware of ice during the winter. Many people have died trying to walk across the icy lake.

Jackson Lake is located 3 miles northwest of Big Pines Visitors Center on Highway N4.
