Craving a cup of java and a slice of homemade pie? Pop in to Joe Mudd's Pie and Coffee, which opened in May at the top of Park Drive in Wrightwood. Take your choice from hearty slices of fresh-baked apple crisps, cinnamon coffee cake, doughnuts and coconut cream pie, served with a side of cheddar cheese, cinnamon sauce or vanilla ice cream.

A number of daily specials are posted on the chalkboard, featuring such delightful treats as peanut butter creme pie, smooth Morning Joe or a Cup of Mudd — all served on a vintage stove.

In addition to fresh pie and coffee, the shop sells a variety of antique musical instruments and vintage vinyl records. The outdoor patio is a beautiful place to spend a leisurely morning — offering scenic views of Park Drive and the nearby mountain range.
