One of the most strenuous endurance races in the world, the Angeles Crest 100-mile run attracts die-hard runners from around the globe. Every August or September, the runners arrive in Wrightwood for a pancake breakfast before beginning the race, which ends at Johnson’s Field in in Pasadena. You have to be a hearty and well-trained soul to make the trek, which traverses the Angeles National Forest with approximately 21,610 feet of elevation gain and 26,700 of elevation loss. The highest point of the run brings runners to the summit of Mount Baden-Powell, at 9,210 feet elevation.
