Wrightwood's Table Mountain is considered by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory to be one of the "best places in the U.S. for cloudless night time skies." To that end, Wrightwood is a wonderful place for stargazing, whether you bring your own telescope, or simply look up into the sky searching for constellations, meteors and satellites.
During the summer months, Grassy Hollow Visitors Center sometimes offers an astronomy workshop highlighting the discoveries and astronomy research here in Wrightwood.
JPL's Table Mountain Observatory, located at a 7,500 foot elevation, is a leader in astronomy research, studying the solar system, testing new technology, assisting with spacecraft mission navigation, and recovering Near-Earth Objects such as comets and asteroids.
