Look closely, and you’ll spot a wealth of wonderful wildlife in the forests of Wrightwood. Near Vincent Gap, the Sheep Mountain Wilderness is home to a herd
of Bighorn sheep. Closer to the village, it’s not unusual to spot raccoons, gray squirrels, black bears, mule deer and coyotes. By night, the mountain lion has been known to prowl the area, though they usually keep a safe distance from humans. Other Wrightwood animals include bobcats, bunnies, and a huge range of birds, including the stellar’s jay, robin and bighorn owl. Bring along your binoculars and a telephoto lens and you’ll be in wildlife watching heaven!
